This poem is from Charley Reese’s final column in the Orlando Sentinel. It drives a point home, particularly for residents of Western PA. In the late 1700’s the few and far between inhabitants of Western PA were the initiators of the Whiskey Rebellion. Now these were God-fearing folks, but it was perfectly acceptable practice to grow the grain and make and use your own whiskey, mostly rye whiskey at the time.
