It is important to remember how Muslims are peaceful people, and in most times and places Muslims and Jews get along very well.

But this article is still confused, incorrect, and even dangerous.

The question is not about Muslims, and never was. It is about the future rulers of a desired Palestinian state that Hamas wants to create in place of Israel, which they plan will rule over, expel, or kill the Jews and others. Hard to say which one, or how much of each, but all the likely outcomes would be terrible.

Let's look to history.

Until 2017, Hamas' charter clearly stated that

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. " There was zero doubt about their intent. In 2017, they revised their charter to be more politically palatable, but their desire to impose Islamic rule over the area is unchanged even in the more political document. Islamic rule is absolute and non-negotiable for Hamas and other groups.

Unfortunately, Palestinians are also very hostile to Jews at this point (but not because they are Muslim). Hamas' October 7th attacks, the most brutal terror action in modern history, involving burning, raping, torture, infanticide, kidnapping and rape, are supported by about 80% of the non-Israeli Palestinians (though note that the 20% of Israeli citizens who are Arab Muslims are mostly against Hamas). In fact, 40% of the West Bank Palestinians support Hamas as new rulers to replace Fatah. So Hamas genocidal extremism is relevant to any future Palestinian state.

Also, we can look to when Jordan took over a lot of land, including Jerusalem, from 1948-1967. As soon as they took the land (which had been promised to the Palestinians by the U.N. btw) Jordan ethnically cleansed Jerusalem of all Jews. Jewish gravestones were dug up, broken and used to pave the streets.

Finally, while there are some promising Muslim democracies in the world, there are none at all in the Middle East. And to be honest, even the democracies (Turkey, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, et al) are somewhat intolerant or authoritarian.

So while the Muslim people have always been pretty friendly to Jews, and Jews to Muslims, the likely outcome of an Islamic takeover of Israel would not be like the good times centuries ago seen in Persian and Moorish empires. Any Islamic takeover would instead be oppressive, violent and intolerant from everything we know.

All this means that two states, living securely side by side, with security guarantees, is still the only sensible path forward. Israel for the Jews (and Christians, Druze, Muslims and others in Israel's pluralistic society now) and a Palestinian state for Muslims in the region.

Meaning that the U.N. was no so dumb to partition the land in 1947. If the partition had been complete and accepted, the region would be more like India and Pakistan now, rather than mired in terror.
