Some great points Will. I don’t think the title accurately captures the real message.

Our learning as educators needs to be focused on student learning. I know that’s not the case in many districts. Much of teacher learning happens because that’s what the teacher wants to learn about, not because there is a student need they cannot yet address.

There are many instructional and assessment practices in need of rethinking (innovation) but I agree the greatest and most impactful innovations are to be found in student learning. How they learn, what they learn, why they learn, where they learn and who they learn with are the essential questions for innovation in schools. Strike that – for innovation in student learning.
