Hi Ed. Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you liked the article. I don’t believe ad blockers will be possible in these closed ecosystems, but I foresee ad-free premium versions of the services being offered, just like they are with Spotify.

Alexa Tasks (or what you refer to as “modules”) are already being developed at a rapid pace. The device manufacturers are encouraging third party developers to build them because it makes the devices more useful and therefore more attractive to consumers. Just like Apple encourages third party developers to build apps for the iPhone
