As a father of a 5 years old daughter I think the problem is our own idea and culture and not a children’s thought.

We (adults) comment and judge everyday about the appearance of others without thinking to much at our children listening those comments.

It is our responsibility to educate and teach them persons and not their appearance are interesting, and the words we use (and choose) are important.

Yesterday evening my daughter was looking at a nice girl (with obesity problems) and shiny said “she is beautiful”.

Children don’t know anything about social differences and complex thoughts around obesity. They will face it growing but if we are good enough in explaining differences rather than judging we will drive their growth in a stable direction.
