Dear America: Meet My White Boss That Talks About Race

I am not being negatively critical here when I say that I found no great wisdom in this piece. It stands to reason that the best way to make sure that everyone is treated fairly, and that people get the opportunities that they deserve is to treat people fairly, and to give them the opprotunities they deserve when one has the power to do so.

That is what I took from the piece. I don’t agree that it is hard to be fair, though I will say that it is virtually impossible to devise a way to circumvent privilege. Telling people not to maximize their own opportunities is not the most constructive solution, yet creating strategies that compel oneself and others to be judicious and supportive when conferring opportunities because one is in a position to do so, is very elusive in nature.

I need to go back to read the original essay.
