I tend to agree and take the same approach as you in regard to confronting and refudiating [sic] the brunt of Trump and his campaign. Yet I wonder that the media isn’t also abdicating its responsibility in the way that it has rationalized Clinton’s mistakes, misjudgments, oversights, and errors.
The attack on Benghazi wasn’t congruent to the attack on the marine barracks in Beirut, because Benghazi happened on the anniversary of the worst terror attack since Pearl Harbor, and because the Secretary of State was either foolish or uninvolved in ensuring cries for better security were heeded.
The email server issue was not analogous to the situation that prevailed with Colin Powell 8 years before. Powell used a government server for classified information. Hillary used a private server and account exclusively. Because of how she was set up, she essentially NEVER used the secure server for any information.
In the case of the server above, and in the case of the Clinton Foundation’s inapproptrate overlap with the State Department, Clinton placed her own interests and concerns above those of her employer. In the case of the SoS positon, her employers are really all of the same people she wishes to vote her into office. If there was no impropriety in how Foundation people handled requests for access to the Secretary, then all the more reason to decry the lack of responsibility, integrity, and responsibility in keeping the two entities seperate. Clinton met with members of Congress before assuming the post, and promised to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. By all accounts, she did absolutely nothing to ensure that the promise was kept. Blowing off the promise is the offense here.
Trump’s campaign is reprehensible, but I really don’t think he is a racist. I think he is committed to including the racists in his constituency. Some would rightfully say that his doing so is worse. However, the coverage of Trump, usually without judgment, is dense. He could shoot people in the street [sic] after all, and he would lose no votes, he said.
I think the media is guilty of normalizing the illness of Trump’s coalition, but I think they also act as if Hillary’s actions and behaviors are always easy to be explained away.
My solution is to commit to dropping out of the public discourse. I can always jump in later and play catch up.
