Thanks, but I didn’t separate out colonialism, or slavery, or any other contributory factor to the evolution of the country. The question was about The West in its current manifestation, and its importance or value as a world leader and geopolitical power. Those detractions are simply not compelling parts of the contemporary Western ethos. To speak of the present is not denial or avoidance of past truths. Those truths are not pertinent to the question, and therefore not to my answer.
