She Who Could Not Be Stopped

The first woman to finish the Boston Marathon was not supposed to be there.

She had mailed in her application and signed it as K.V. Switzer and as soon as one of the Directors of the Marathon, Jock Semple, saw her running in the race, he attempted to physically remove her and tear her number from her chest.
