The Shutdown of Democracy — We Are Not This, This Is Not US

The Nazis come when our eyes are closed. When we are distracted by hunger and turn to hate for our food. When reason and logic are not enough to explain the poverty of our lives and we look for an enemy to blame, or a politician of the people, to supposedly lead us through crisis to a solution. When manufactured crises erupt, one after the other, They (the dear leader) are always the solution. Only they can solve the problems of the country, but they always always need more power in order to do it.

The strong man needs more power because the media is standing in his way and filling the airwaves with fake news. He needs more power because the (elected) Congress won’t give him carte blanche to do as he will with the country. He needs more power because there is a NATIONAL EMERGENCY that only he can deal with.

Well, the United States of America, the beacon of democracy, would never, ever, fall for that, right? We fought the Nazis, so how could we ever become the Nazis?

How stable are your finances? Could you easily find another job if you lose the one that you have? If your income stream just shut off because the government shut down, how long could you survive? Are you confident that you will be able to keep your health insurance? How much is your credit card debt? Is your job in danger of…
