Deoxys is a bipedal alien-like Pokémon with four Formes, each focusing on a particular stat. The major components that are consistent throughout all four Formes are a dominating red hue, a light blue face, and three light blue dots placed in a triangle on its back. There is usually a purple stripe down the middle of its face and a purple, crystalline organ in its breast. It has white, round eyes in rectangular, black eye sockets. According to the anime, Deoxys may have a green crystalline organ and a face stripe.

Deoxys has tapered legs with a segmented, vertical blue stripe on the top section in its Normal Forme. The abdomen is black with vertical stripes, with reddish-orange skin for the most part. The arms may take several shapes, most often a pair of tentacles wrapped in a double helix. The predominant skin color of one tentacle is red, while the other is pale blue. It can also create more humanoid arms with a red top and blue bottom and a five-fingered hand. This Forme has a stubby tail and a blunt protrusion with a single blue stripe on each side of its head.

Deoxys’ legs stay tapered when in Attack Forme. Its blue stripes, however, are no longer segmented and instead extend the full length of the leg, and there is a big spike on the knee. Its original coiled, blunted tentacles have been replaced with two sets of whip-like tentacles with sharp points, one reddish-orange and one blue. Its head protrusions are now triangular, with an extra one projecting from the top of its head. The majority of its reddish-orange skin has shrunk, exposing a striated, black chest and belly. Finally, its tail has grown in length and pointedness.

Deoxys’s Protection Forme has broad, thick legs that taper to a point at the end, with a bluish-green patch on each knee. It still has two sets of red and blue tentacles, but they’re flat and wide now. The head has melded with the body, and all protrusions have vanished, resembling a helmet. The reddish-orange skin now covers the whole body, hiding the interior black sections. It now has a single blue stripe on each shoulder and its tail has vanished.

This Pokémon’s Speed Forme has a sleek black body with tiny striation. Only its head, hip joints, and the region around its crystal are covered by the reddish-orange skin. It now has one red and one blue tentacle on either side of its body. The protrusions on its head are now pointing upward, and the rear of its skull has developed into a long spike. This longer protrusion has a long, thick blue stripe going along the middle. More blue stripes may be seen on each hip joint and its legs.

Deoxys was created by the mutation of an alien virus. The Pokémon is very clever; the crystal in its breast seems to be its brain. This organ has the ability to fire laser beams. It can regenerate any portion of its body that it has lost during a combat, as demonstrated in the anime. It has been shown that it can generate an aurora without altering its Forme. These auroras, which may have a variety of electromagnetic wavelengths, are utilized to communicate with other Deoxys. It is also shown that the numerous electromagnetic waves emitted by humans, Pokémon, and any electronics may block its eyesight if its communication is interfered with enough. This Pokémon arrived from outer space inside a meteor. Deoxys’ many forms each have unique talents and methods.

Deoxys has been shown in the anime and manga to generate clones of itself. These clones have dead eyes and duller hue, lack the signature crystal on the chest, and seem unable to alter from the Normal Forme. Furthermore, they seem to be incapable of transforming their tentacles into hands. When you beat these clones, they disintegrate into dust-like bits.

Deoxys is the only Pokémon known to be able to learn the move Psycho Boost through leveling up.
