While the buzz around Adda52’s tax policies was still settling, a new challenge gained eyeballs in the poker industry and it is none other than multi-accounting.

Multi-accounting’ in the world of online poker refers to the practice of entering more than one account into an online poker tournament to gain an unfair advantage and have a higher winning probability over the opponents.

Over the last few years, there have been accusations claiming that the practice is adopted by many. It has also been associated with the whole phenomenon of black money in India. Yet no player has come out in the open to accept the accusation and online poker sites have also not been able to deploy policies to counter the same.

When the issue of multi-accounting was discussed earlier in different countries across the globe, some high stakes players dismissed it as not being that bad and said that there were players who had known about it for some time but did nothing.

Multi-accounting still requires a player to understand the right strategies and skills to be good at the game and win. But since you know the other cards and the cards that are out, it is cheating and a lot of online poker sites consider it as an offence. Therefore, you could be banned for violating the terms and conditions.

One of the first repercussions of being caught with multiple accounts is that you lose any winnings that you have earned under that account. You may have won the tournament but if it is discovered that you have played with more than one account, your prize money will be confiscated and redistributed to other players.

If the scenario is really bad and you are a popular name in the industry, you are branded as a cheater. When you multi-account, you are disguising your identity and playing as another player. This is unfair and as soon as you are caught, your reputation is ruined in the community.

So, if you have been multi-accounting or if you are planning to do so, think again and take the right decision.
