Fact-Checking Brexit: The Conclusion

I write this as a fan of the British people. I will not attempt to understand all the nuances of British politics, but there are some things that I thought you might be forgetting. First, I was really impressed with how polite and civil people were on the night of the election and even more so after the results were announced in that you did not have the losing side erupt in riots and causing mass fires. I saw no such violence. That speaks well of the British personality.

I was in the UK during the Poll tax riots and again, very polite by a vast majority as compared to my countrymen in the US. It seems that every major decision is a tinderbox that can start violent riots and harm to society in the US.

The next thing I wanted to say is how I love the passion and pride that the British have. I mean really, at the tower of London, a Beefeater welcomed me back to the birthplace of true civilization. There was even allowances made for me at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hyde park when I asked for ice cubes in my water — they said they expect that from colonials. Of course, when we wanted to have fireworks on the 4th of July, it was denied due to ‘high winds’ but on Guy Fawlkes day, when gale force winds hit the island, there were fireworks everywhere.

I find it hard to believe that a small island country that fielded a navy (with sails no less) that controlled a world wide empire, endured and took on the greatest war machine of the world at that time (and was at its peak), carried on and remained calm, can not weather any storm that BREXIT causes. I also don’t believe for a second that the British won’t find a lot of silver linings in this that are presently unseen by the political wonks….I mean really, you discovered and operationalized the radar!

Every generation faces a challenge, this one appears to be yours and I have no doubt whatsoever that you will meet and conquer it
