A Living Case Study of a Social Enterprise on its Path to Scale

Pollinate Energy (Pollinate) is a social business based in Australia and India that brings life-changing products to people who need them most: the millions living in poverty in India’s urban slums. With an ambitious goal of operating in 20 cities by 2020, Pollinate is now at a critical juncture: large enough to struggle with multiple locations and other issues of scale, but small enough to ‘experiment’ and be nimble with change.

As one of five organizations selected as 2017–2018 Protégés in the University of New Hampshire’s Social Sector Franchise Accelerator, Pollinate executives Alexie Seller and Madhavi Kulkarni will gain from the mentorship of an experienced franchise executive, Peter Holt, over six months in a ‘living case study’ of how commercial sector franchise knowledge can help social enterprises expand their operations and impact (see protege and mentor bios here!).

At the University of New Hampshire, the team will be documenting and facilitating the monthly check-in calls (meet Yusi Turell, Pollinate’s Student Research Fellow, and the rest of the UNH team here). While this will culminate in a full-length, published case study, we thought you’d like to follow along with our monthly blog, which will keep you updated on what Peter, Alexie, and Madhavi discuss, and give you up to the minute info about Pollinate’s exciting adventures! Stay Tuned for our post about the Pollinate’s first mentoring call!
