Create a desktop wallpaper using your photos and quote.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to create your wallpaper using a ready-made template online.
Let’s do this.
- You’ll be using an online tool for this tutorial that you can access it here: https://pixteller.com.
2. First of all, you’ll be needing a new account on pixteller.com, by filling the signup form or using one of the social methods.
3. Now you can search through the wallpaper templates available for free. When you find something to your liking, just hit the “Use” button, and the design will open in the online editor.
4. Once your desired template opens in the editor, you need to select the image if you want to change it and click “Replace Image” from the left menu. I will also add a background image by selecting “Images” and search for a picture. After that, upload one of your photos or one of the provided images in the platform, that is under CC0 license.
5. I’ve just replaced and added a new photo as a background. You can see that our wallpaper comes to life. Find here a detailed tutorial on how to manipulate pictures and images in PixTeller. Off course the text it’s not so visible now, but we can fix that by changing the color.
Beeing that I want to create a quote wallpaper for myself, I’ll remove the text and the youtube shape by selecting the items and hitting the “Delete” button.
6. For better visibility of my quote, I’ll be adding a rectangular shape and set her color to black and drop down the opacity. To add a rectangle shape, you’ll first have to select from the left panel the shapes option and then click on “Add Rectangle”, if you’re looking for another shape just hit “More” and do your search. There is an excellent variety of icons, over 100k.
To change the shape color, you must click on the shape color, and the color picker will open.
7. After setting the tone to #666666 and opacity to 60%, I’ve resized the rectangle to 960px width and 540px height using the inputs from the left panel. For a more detailed tutorial on how to set the opacity, color, or size, you can check this tutorial.
8. Let’s add our text now by choosing the “Text” option from the left panel and then clicking the “Add Text” button.
9. I’m adding the quote in the text-area input and setting the width 900px, changing the color to white, text size to 86px, I’ll also switch the font to “Cutive Mono”. Changing the font is easy, you can find the best of them already integrated into the editor, you don’t have to think about rights or pay for it. All the resources accessible from the editor are under CC0 license. Means that you can use them with no problem.
10. We finished our wallpaper, just set a title to it and save it by hitting the “Save image” button, after the saving process will be completed, the “Download” button will appear.
11. Click on the “Download” button, and your work will open in a new tab.
12. To download it, just hit the “Download” button again and a pop-up will appear where you can change the download size and format. (You can find my work here)
13. Once downloaded click right on the image and choose “Set as desktop background”.
