I totally agree with what you said here. We praise the beauty of how creative writing leaves room for imagination and lets your mind wander, but I think films are no less fascinating, just at the opposite end of the spectrum. Rather than letting you create the world of your own, films give us a world far richer in details and colors than a single mind can hold. They are two totally different media that cannot be compared with the same set of criteria.

That being said, it’s inevitable that people will compare them, and I think the reason is that we like to compare two related things in general. It’s like how some say they like tea more than coffee. I guess it’s unfair to say that one is better than the other, but it’s definitely natural to like one more than the other.
