When you spend time creating content, be it for a digital marketing agency or any other company/clients, you want to make sure it’s worth it. To do that, you need to look at how many people are visiting your blog and see which topics they like. Google Analytics is a tool that helps you do this. It shows you useful information about your website and helps you see if your marketing efforts are working.

In this blog, I will be talking about GA4 from the BEGINNING! Yes, you read it right.

So, Let’s start with, “How to create and configure a Google Analytics 4 account/property & Data Stream”

1. Sign in to Your Google Account:

  • Start by signing in to your Google Account or create one if you don’t have one already. Make sure this account is associated with the website or app you want to track.

2. Access Google Analytics:

After sign in, Complete the account creation 5 steps

3. Create a New Google Analytics 4 Property:

  • Once you’re logged in, click on the “Admin” icon (represented by a gearwheel) in the lower-left corner.
  • In the Admin section, under the “Property” column, click on “Create Property.”

4. Configure Your Property:

  • Fill in the necessary details for your new property, including the property name, industry category, and reporting time zone.
  • Choose whether you want to create a “Web” or “App + Web” property. Select “Web” if you want to track a website, or “App + Web” if you want to track both a website and a mobile app.
  • Click “Next” to proceed.

5. Configure Data Streams:

  • Data Streams are used to collect data from your website or app. Configure them based on your platform:

For a Website (Web Data Stream):

  • Enter a stream name.
  • Select your platform (e.g., JavaScript, gtag.js, or Google Tag Manager) and follow the provided instructions to set up tracking on your website.
  • Click “Create Stream.”

For a Mobile App (App Data Stream):

  • Enter a stream name.
  • Choose your operating system (iOS or Android).
  • Follow the instructions to integrate the GA4 SDK into your mobile app.
  • Click “Create Stream.”

6. Accept the Terms of Service:

  • Review and accept Google’s Terms of Service.

7. Install the Tracking Code:

  • If you chose the “Web” property, you’ll need to implement the tracking code on your website. This typically involves adding a snippet of code to your site’s HTML or using Google Tag Manager.

8. Verify Installation:

  • After installing the tracking code, return to your GA4 property, and in the Admin section, click on “Data Streams.” Check if your data stream is receiving data. This may take some time to populate.

9. Explore Your Data:

  • Once data is flowing into your GA4 property, you can start exploring your analytics data, setting up goals, and creating reports to gain insights into user behavior.

In the next blog, I will be talking about How to Install Google Analytics 4 with Google Tag Manager

Thank you.
