A Condition Monitoring Device for a motor is useful for industrial buildings, HVAC systems, elevators, and other large machinery. Wear and tear is inevitable for machines and may not be noticed by the usual operators. Regular maintenance may not detect the wear and tear until the device fails to operate as expected. During a catastrophic breakdown, the machine might stop functioning entirely, interrupting workflow and posing a risk to workers.

The information processing device is coupled to the Condition Monitoring Device. In one embodiment, the processor stores a template of a time-series signal, which is detected in the second operation segment. Depending on the type of condition monitoring device, the processor then executes a predetermined process. It is noted that these devices can be combined with each other to form a single, highly customized system for monitoring various types of machines.

In some embodiments, the condition monitoring device is an electrically-powered system that monitors a component or a target. The condition monitoring device is connected to a monitoring target through a bus. The communication device enables the device to obtain and store data from any physical quantity, including the temperature. The device may also monitor the temperature and humidity of a monitored target by using a thermistor.

A time-series signal from a first sensor is used to determine the state of a monitored target 20. Generally, this interval lasts several seconds, but can be interrupted by the end of a production lot or a detection of a defective product. The time-series signal is analyzed based on the degree of similarity between the first and second operation segments. When the first and second segments match, the processor updates the template. For instance, in May 2022, Sonicu, a major condition monitoring device provider in the U.S., launched its new Temperature and Room conditions monitoring solution for food delivery and medical applications.

A condition monitoring device with a training algorithm uses the learned model to determine the remaining life of a product. This machine-to-machine communication system allows for the monitoring of products in production. For instance, a machine can be monitored to see if it has been damaged. If it is, the device will send an alert to the manufacturer.
