Industrial and commercial LED lighting is extremely energy-efficient, and its on-off and full-light output times are milliseconds. These properties make LEDs excellent for indicator lights and other small applications. These lamps can be used on car dashboards and doors. They can also be used to illuminate works of art. The benefits of LED lighting are plentiful and they are becoming increasingly popular in homes. For instance, in April 2022, Longpoint Realty Partners, a major real estate firm in the U.S., secured around US$ 52 million to buy the Van Nuys Industrial Park, including four commercial buildings that contain several industrial and commercial LED lighting systems.

Industrial and commercial LED lighting consumes 75% less energy than incandescent lighting and lasts 25 times longer. These benefits make LED lighting a compelling alternative to traditional lighting. The energy savings from LED lighting can exceed five hundred and sixty-five terawatt hours (TWh) per year by 2035, which is equivalent to the electricity generated by 92 1,000-MW power plants. With the rapid advancement of LED technology, its price erosion rate is increasing, and the technology is becoming more affordable to use.

Another type of industrial and commercial LED lighting is the LED filament, a string of several LED chips connected in series to form a thin rod. This is used for low-cost decorative applications. These bulbs operate on mains voltage. To make these bulbs work on low voltage, a simple rectifier and capacitive current limit can be used. LED filaments are low-cost and can work with mains voltage. This type of LED filament requires a low voltage and high current converter, which will reduce its energy consumption.

In addition to energy-efficiency, industrial and commercial LED lighting require less power than conventional fluorescent lamps. Their life span is longer and their cost is lower than traditional light sources. As the cost of LED lamps decreases, more consumers will choose LEDs for all their lighting applications. From backlighting for large screens to displays, LED lighting is a cost-effective solution. While the initial cost of LED lights may limit their acceptance, LED technology is set to become more widely adopted as time goes by.
