It is available in capsules, tablets, and powders, which are intended for research purposes only. DHA supplements may be harmful for the health if it is consumed in large quantities.

DHA Supplements has been linked to improved vision in preterm infants. However, the effects of docosahexaenoic acids on the central nervous system are still unclear. For instance, according to Germany Works, in 2019, there were around 2900 chemical companies in Germany. There are several studies supporting the use of DHA supplements in the diets of newborns. Some of these studies show that a higher dose of DHA supplements in the neonate can improve the visual acuity of premature infants. The authors of these studies also noted that higher doses of DHA supplements may help reduce the risk of neurological disorders. DHA supplements has been associated with improved cognition in infants. It is important to note that there is no conclusive evidence that docosahexaenoic acids are detrimental for the health of preterm infants. In addition, the supplementation of DHA supplements has been linked with an increased risk of hypertension.
