Does Air Traffic Control get access to free flights?

There is a training program in the United States that permits controllers to Air Traffic Control in the cockpit jumpseat for free. All FAA air traffic controllers with basic credentials are eligible for the “fam” program (familiarisation).

Candidates must also pass a medical screening and a security investigation in addition to being 31 years old or younger. Applicants must also have three years of “progressively responsible job experience,” a Bachelor’s degree, or a combination of the two, according to the FAA. Then there are the FAA’s pre-employment air traffic tests.
