One thing that Changes your Life Forever
There are so many things that can change the whole life, but what I believe the most important is Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is the practice of “Being in the Moment” and accepting it without judgment. Our thoughts don’t define us, but our actions. When we are more aware of our thoughts, we can help from getting caught up in the thoughts that lose our hold on our “self.”
Good Balance is determined by the relationship between Rational Rider and the Emotional Horse. Having the ability to work with overwhelming emotions and incessant thoughts change life a lot. Thoughts may come up, and that’s completely alright, but what matters most is that we don’t indulge and act on them.
Life is like the ocean, there will be waves. Sometimes just little ones, sometimes big and exciting ones, sometimes really big, terrifying ones. To sustain the balance we need to learn to surf rather than complaining about the tides. If we master this, we can enjoy the journey, called Life.
Mindfulness is the ability to be present, to rest in the here and now, fully engaged with whatever we’re doing at the moment. It’s not about “Not Thinking”, but to calm down the thoughts speed in your mind and have to make the practice of letting thoughts come and go without being carried away by them.
Mindfulness helps you become a calm person which will help you as well as the people around you. Here are a few benefits of mindfulness.
- Being mindful makes it easier to savor the pleasures.
- It helps us to become fully engaged in activities.
- We are less likely to be caught up worrying about the future or dwelling into the past.
- We can think practically and make better decisions in life
- Forming deep and meaningful connections with others.
- It improves mental and physical health.
The mind is like a road, imagine yourself sitting on the roadside and watching the traffic as they pass, meditation helps in changing our perspective on the thoughts or feelings by teaching us to observe and let them go without getting caught up in them.
To achieve mindfulness, here are a few easy steps:
- Right Time: Set aside 10–15 minutes from your day. You need quiet time to practice mindfulness without any disturbance.
- Right Place: Make sure to have a quiet place, it can be in your garden or in your room. Turn off all the distractions.
- Get Comfortable: Sit on a chair or floor with your back straight and hands loosely resting on your laps or knees.
- Be clear on your motivation: Being clear about what you want, whether it’s to feel happier, feel calmer, be more focused, or be less stressed. It will help in creating the right attitude of mind going in as well as helping you maintain the commitment to yourself.
- Breathe: Take a few, slow and deep breaths with eyes open and after 30 seconds gently closing your eyes.
- Take in the Present Moment: Focus on physical sensations, how the body feels, how the room smells, what are the sounds you hear, and allow your thoughts to drift through your mind but try to remain a passive observer, letting the thoughts come and go.
- Relax: Learn to be comfortable with yourself in the present moment. This time you can focus on your breath, visualize something, or simply sit back and let the mind rest.
- Transition: After 10 minutes or so, when you gently open your eyes don’t rush into anything. Just observe how the body feels, how the mind feels. Do you feel calmer? Do you feel the positive vibes? Just observe and reflect throughout your day on the sensation of being fully present.
Mindfulness really helps in changing the lives for the better. There are lots of benefits which help you in every aspect of life. In this world of chaos, try to do something which gives you a purpose and makes life worth living. 💖
