Woman looking for a dayuse room to nap and chill

If you are not familiar with the concept of day use please refer to the first part of our series. We’ve explain the concept behind this growing new service popping up everywhere.

Now why would you book a day-service like a room for yourself?

Reason #1 — You’re tired of visiting the same city

I’m sure you’ve already faced this situation where you had to travel to a city you already know very well (for business or family reasons) and you didn’t really want to be a tourist again. Why would you bother to take a packed tube to see Big Ben for a tenth time, and when it’s raining?

Then what are your options? Staying in a Starbucks, Costa or Pret before your next appointment and hotel or Airbnb check-in. Great if you are hungry but what if you want to rest and relax a bit?

Booking a private room, spa or treatment for the day will surely help you to cope with your long day and make a more efficient use of your spare time in a city you already know like any other.

Reason #2 — You need to get things done or to unwind for awhile

Nowadays, we tend to spend more time on the road between meetings, travels and events. This is very common when living in a huge city like London where the average commute time is over 45 minutes.

Longer commutes appeared to have a negative impact on mental health too, with longer-commuting workers 33% more likely to suffer from depression and 12% more likely to report multiple aspects of work-related stress.

They were also 46% more likely to get less than the recommended seven hours of sleep each night and 21% more likely to be obese, according to an article by Business Insider in 2017.

There are now many apps and services that allow you to book a day use service. Whether it’s a space to work, on-demand meeting room, access to a gym across multiple locations or booking a private nap and meditation pod to power-nap and meditate.

Reason #3 — You are jetlagged and desperate for some sleep

What’s worse than arriving in a new destination totally fucked up? (excuse our language).

As we travel between different locations in different time zones, people frequently suffer from lack of sleep and jet lag the first day or two after arriving. So what can you do help?

Are you going to have a nap at Starbucks in front of everyone?

Will you let yourself down and show up super irritated in front of your family, friends, work colleagues and clients?

The same applies before a departure. It’s always better to have a pleasant train or flight experience, right? Therefore to be rested and refreshed before boarding your flight to your next destination, check out:
