There is nothing more relaxing and calming than spending the weekend in the woods. There is no electricity, internet connection, bathroom... Priceless! But I can offer you some essential tips to follow if you want to have the best time ever. Everything is in preparation — when you have everything you need and expect the unexpected you will not have any troubles at all.

Before You Pack Your Bags

First, you have to start with the house. Before you pack the luggage I recommend you pay attention to your home. Since you will be away for the weekend and come back late at night there has to be something for dinner – a frozen pizza for example. You will be tired and the last thing you would like to do is cook and take care for the next day – choosing an outfit, changing the sheets, washing the clothes…

In order to avoid any frustration and end the weekend the proper way, I recommend you prepare everything the night before you go camping. This includes taking the trash out, clean the house, change the sheets, prepare dinner. Once you are done with all the cleaning chores, you are ready to pack your bags for the holiday. You will need an equipment. The tent is probably the most important part of it because you have to sleep somewhere.

What Will You Need For Camping

Besides the tent, you have to have a sleeping bag. There are many kinds for each season so I advise you to go at a specialized shop. You will also need a small shovel, enough food which won’t go bad if exposed to sun; a cool box will be nice; soap, toilet paper, wet wipes because hygiene is really important; drinkable water, trash bags because you have to clean after yourself, and a medical kit.

All in all, these are the things you need to be comfortable enough while you are in the woods. I recommend you find a place where there is a coverage for the cell phone because anything could happen. I don’t want to scare you but since you are in nature, you better be prepared for worst case scenario. I almost forgot to tell you to bring insect repellent and sunscreen cream. I once forgot about the last one and to tell you the truth, the burns were worse than what I have ever had on the beach.

You have to know how to light a fire because at night this will be your main source of light and warmth — it can get freezing at night, depending on the placeyou are. Not to mention what will happen if it rains – wet clothes, no way to cook any food, no light except for the flash light. Therefore, you should always take an extra pair of clothes qith you in a plastic bag – vacuumed will be the best.

Another important tip regarding food – make sure to clean after yourself because you can attract bugs and animals.

I can guarantee you will feel strange the first few times because of all the sounds surrounding you, but once you get used to them, you will love them. Make sure to get an extra blanket and take a look at the stars – it is breathtaking! The pictures you have seen taken in the wild are true and it is even more beautiful to see them in person. I hope you have a great time camping, like I do ☺
