THE E-FACTOR

Men of character are in decline. As much as I hoped it was false, the evidence is undeniable. Centuries back, good was good and noble was admirable. Currently, I wish I could say same without doubt. Majority believes there is no honour in being noble. There is no such thing as being noble; nobility is weakness. Good people are being mocked. We praise and encourage “smartness”. You’ve got to “look sharp”, we say.

The greatest threat to character is the E-factor. It is the Expediency factor. This E-factor is the primary reason for failure in life. E-factor is human nature and I will just summarize it as—“We want more, we prefer easy and we want it fast”. Until you get to understand and learn to manage this factor of human nature, it will keep ruling you as it does to most humans.

First, be informed that the E-factor is neutral. Whether it results in good or bad depends solely on who’s in control. If you are in control, you can make good use of this human nature but if your E-factor seems to be in control of your life, then you are heading towards doom and I hope this write-up saves you.

If your E-factor is in control of your life, all you care about is how to gain what you want. The harm that your actions might pose to others means nothing to you. You don’t mind being dishonest and harmful. You don’t mind taking what doesn’t belong to you. You don’t mind making others uncomfortable for the sake of your own comfort. You would prefer to get served first even though you arrived last. All that matters to you is getting more of what you want, as fast as you want it, by the easiest means possible. Truth be told, this is the very definition of present day humans. We are in deep mess but we are too blind to care.

This write-up may not create the magic effect that I wish it would but in the least, I hope it serves as an eye-opener to you my dear conqueror.

Human nature is marvelous to those who make good use of it. Yes, we want more great things for ourselves. We want it faster, we want it easier, and we want it in abundance. We can have all these and still be good people with great character if only we think of others as much as we think of ourselves and we think of the future as much as we think of the present.

Could it hurt others? Could it create harm in the future?

If yes, kindly decline!
