Glasgow School of Art degree shows

A very quick overview of the Glasgow School of Art degree shows 2017 — or what we saw of them as time was limited!
As mentioned in a previous post, we were visiting for the very special occasion of our very first mentee, who was graduating. He achieved a first class honours degree in Sculpture and Environmental art and was awarded one of the RSA New Contemporaries awards — result!
We only managed the Fine Art areas (Painting and printmaking, sculpture and environmental art) down at the Tontine Studios but what a treat it was. Here is a small selection of what we saw, goodness, it was pretty awesome.
We had a mentee the following week who had also visited the degree shows and she was so inspired by what she had seen. She’d had a HUGE rethink about her work, her ideas and her approach. So we’re excited to see how she develops pieces in response to this. We’d recommend a visit to at least one degree show before you embark on studying at art college. It gives you a really good understanding of what it’s all about, the ambition required and the scope of what you might find yourself doing.
Enjoy…….
