Thanks for pointing that out! A couple of things to mention here:

  • Sorry if I missed this earlier, but now when I check, StatCounter do have Edge broken out separately. At around ~2%. So more like 6% combined.
  • But 6% combined still feels too low doesn’t it? Šime Vidas pointed me to the NetMarketShare stats which indicate a significantly higher share for IE — around 19% on desktop, whereas StatCounter have it down at only ~9%.

I’ve added these updates in the article now. I suppose in general it reinforces the message not to rely on a single source, at least without some healthy skepticism. YSMV (Your Stats May Vary)!
