I realised this after almost a year in London — many of my acquaintances (some being with my own countrymen) still felt shallow to me, so many formalities and unknowns that take time to get past. There was nothing like the joy of meeting with a friend from back home, and being able to go straight to deeper matters and innermost thoughts, all within a day.
