I’ve seen too many promising businesses shoot themselves in the foot because they chased a goal that didn’t make sense for them. There’s nothing wrong with a business that doesn’t scale to a million users if you only need 20,000 to be successful.

Put another way, you wouldn’t discredit anything an NFL player does because he couldn’t win the pole vault at the Olympics. Some athletes aren’t pole vaulters, and some businesses aren’t “billion dollar unicorns.”
