On Being a Black Man

I’m a software engineer working for defense contractor in Florida. I’m also originally from Jamaica, but more importantly I’m able to relate to some of the same experiences you allude to in the US and various parts of the world. The experiences in various parts of the world at times mimic your experience in Cuba and Canada. Truth is there’s inherit bias in all of us and we need to face FACTS, especially when viewed from our inner cities. My hope is we’ll write articles about the alarming murders rates in Chicago and various parts of the country and offer solutions to eradicate the crimes that plague these inner cities. Until then, its unlikely we’ll reduce the perception of the populace who’ll immediately lock their car doors as I walk by because they view me as a ‘threat’.

A single golf clap? Or a long standing ovation?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
