Power Mining presents the New ASICs Specific MMU and transports it to a Powerhouse

The new Mobile Mining Unit (MMU) presents the newest model in the Power Mining MMU family. The MMU is constructed to use the Antminers built-in ventilation technology to maintain air circulation in the facility. It works by sucking in cold air, which is then transformed into hot air and pushed out through the other sidewall of the MMU. The inner wall that cuts the MMU in half, also ensures that the two air flows don’t mix.

Work on the first Power Mining MMU began in September 2017 and the process has been ongoing since. The first ready-to-plug-in unit was first presented to the public at TechChill — the Baltic’s leading tech event in February 2018.

The newest MMU is specifically built for mining crypto currencies with application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs). Its interior is designed for optimal airflow performance, ensuring that mining equipment doesn’t overheat. The MMU can store up to 160 Antminers (S9, L3++, A3, B3, X3, D3). In case only Antminers S9 are used, they would produce produce 2 240 TH per second and consume 240 kW per hour.

Every Power Mining MMU is built according to the following requirement list:

Mobile. All parts are constructed in a way that endures transportation stress. The MMU’s intermodal freight container build allows for its transportation both inland as well as overseas.

Cost-efficient. The MMU interior is inspired by the best construction industry practices — the parts were chosen strategically, choosing the best performance materials with the lowest-costs.

Remote performance control. The heat, humidity and power metrics can be controlled remotely using on-site mobile broadband.

Easy to set up. MMUs are built to ensure a simple on-site set up process, boiled down to locating the MMU at the power source and plugging it in. The learning curve for the set up process is reduced to a minimum.

A sunny April day marked the instalment of the first newly built MMU. The team oversaw its transportation to its new home where it was plugged directly to a powerhouse. Needless to say that it was beyond motivational for the team to see another MMU travelling through streets of Riga.

The team is currently also working on a visual introduction about Power Mining and its vision. All updates will be shared with the PM community.
