Crushing December

Every December, things slow down. It seems like people start eating too much around Thanksgiving, start drinking too and then more folks are out of the office more often as the year dribbles to a close.

I counteract this poor but seductive tendency by doing some of my most important work in December.

I plan for next year.

And I push my team to plan too and make it a loosely structured but definitely an intentional thing. We think through strategy top-down, let ourselves get expansive and creative — and then begin wrestling with a few details like resource allocations etc...

I also set up casual meetings with a small group of smartest friends for open-ended conversations about next year — themes, ideas, potholes etc..

I want to hit the air flying smartly in 2017 with a team that has blueprint drafts in hand.
