Tulsi Gabbard Flip-Flops on Trump Russia Investigation

Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has a funny idea of what “long” means because just 48 hours ago she didn’t support a special prosecutor taking over the F.B.I.’s ongoing investigation of ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Gabbard defenders are trying to claim that her support for the Protecting Our Democracy Act of 2016 proves that she isn’t a lying flip-flopper but that legislation has nothing to do with the active, ongoing F.B.I. investigation whose integrity can only be protected from Trumpian interference by the appointment of a special prosecutor at the Department of Justice. The act would create a blue ribbon congressional commission to examine Russia’s role in the 2016 presidential election rather than examine Trump’s Russia ties specifically and this commission would fall under the purview of the legislative — not the executive — branch of government.

If Gabbard had indeed “long” called for a special prosecutor to oversee the Trump-Russia investigation, surely there would be a statement about it on her website? The only statements on her website with the words ‘Trump’ and ‘Russia’ are about the meeting she had at Trump Tower with the president-elect arranged by Alt-Right Breitbart boss Steve Bannon who wanted her to be Secretary of State and her warning [try not to laugh] about nuclear war with Russia in response to Trump’s airstrike on her favorite war criminal Bashar al-Assad.

Gabbard is proving to be as principled as she is progressive.
