How Metaverse Could Inspire Self-replication

The Emergence of Digital Replication as the Next Frontier for Multidimensional Internet.

The metaverse is essentially fusing the real world with the digital world, and is a simulated digital environment for rich user interaction mimicking the real world. Presently, it’s being realized through a small number of platforms like the Sandbox, Mirandus, etc. on which people can interact in different ways.

As the metaverse concept is starting to incorporate Web3 technology, the future metaverse would be something very similar to our real world where users interact and explore with overlaying objects and even replace some real-world activities like working, meetings, gaming, or browsing items in a virtual store.

The present day internet is a two-dimensional (2D) space where we create content, transact and connect with anyone but far-off from realistic world. The metaverse will be of as a virtual 3D space and a shared virtual world where we can do everything that you do in today’s internet and that uses augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and Artificial Intelligence, along with concepts from social media to create spaces for rich user interaction mimicking the real world while being able to connect, transact and create.

Self-replication is reproducing itself i.e. making an exact copy or copies of itself by its own power or inherent nature. Researchers made “living robots” by incubating stem cells from frog embryos, and they’ve discovered that they’re able to self-replicate. The scientists who created the first living robots say the life forms, known as xenobots, made copies of themselves and can now reproduce.

At the moment it may be hard to create humanlike looking creatives but however, in a digital world, it will not be difficult to create intelligent self-replicating agents or avatars that can send, receive, interact and learn from their environment, and evolve progressively with time and the metaverse concept will largely provide just that in a simulated realistic world.

The metaverse, will be a place where avatars/’digital replicas’ representing individuals interact with other avatar-body created as digitized humans in a virtual 3D space, and artificially created intelligent agents can exhibit a similar to human conduct/appearance, without the physical limitations of an actual humanlike individual in the real world. With the advancements in AI, Augmented Reality and Brain-computer Interfaces, we may witness a metaverse where an AI created avatar/replica is same as identical twin and indistinguishable from a real individual.

The metaverse will be very different from the internet of today due to massive parallelism, concurrent users, three dimensional(3D) virtual space and multiple real –world spaces like working, meetings, interacting or hanging out ,etc. And also, the metaverse could add a new multidimensional layer that enables individuals or companies to re-imagine the immersive experience in a world of augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), extended reality, and physically accurate digital avatars in multiple set-ups like meetings, playing tennis, swimming, etc. taking place at once. The metaverse will offer all this to be executed by avatars that individuals have made of themselves for socializing in a virtual space. In addition, possibly we may think of adding the dimension of time to the other three dimensions to the metaverse to take care of time-bound parameters of physical space representation.

As we know, metaverses is a three-dimensional Internet that is populated with live people. We might visit an art gallery or a cinema, browse items in a virtual store, or showcase digital forms of art(NFTs), Crypto and property all within virtual spaces connected by the metaverse. As VR/AR tech and Extended Reality becomes more usable, more and more activity will be replicated in virtual form and the metaverse will start to become more of a reality. At the moment it is somewhat conceptual and possibly start to open-up as a new world of multidimensional virtual space with new possibilities.
