Per Army Regulation 870–5 (Military History Responsibilities, Policies, and Procedures), Section 8–2, exit interviews should be conducted near the end of a person’s tour of duty in order to capture lessons learned. It’s an often overlooked regulation that does a lot to further organizational history and memory.
