Haridwar is the Hindu pilgrimage site in North India’s Uttarakhand state, where the River Ganges exits the Himalayan foothills. It is one of the most devoted cities in India. Its Hindu religion has attracted foreign visitors from all around the world. It is considered a pure city as Lord Vishnu took bath at this spot and the water is said to relive all sins.

Har Ki Pauri is one of the most famous places and is believed where the three main Hindu Gods — Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, are said to have appeared at different times in the Vedic era. This is also the area where thousands of pilgrims come and connect with God. It is the real gateway to heaven.

3. Mansa Devi Temple

Mansa Devi Temple, Haridwar is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Mansa Devi in the holy city of Haridwar. Mansa Devi, is considered to be a form of Shakti and is believed to have emerged from Lord Shiva’s mind. Thousands of Hindus come every year to this temple, which is one of the ‘Panch Tirths’ or the five pilgrimages in Haridwar.

Chandi Devi Temple, is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Chandi Devi in the holy city of Haridwar. This is located on the hilltop of neel parvat in the holy city. This temple was installed by Adi Shankaracharya. The main sanctum is 4 km from the bottom of the hill. The alternate is to take a ropeway to the temple.

5. Bhimgoda Barrage

Bhimgoda is, therefore, a combination of the words Bhim (the legendary hero in Mahabharata) and goda (a Hindi word for knee). The Bhimgoda tank has the water of the Ganges flowing into it. The tank also remains skirted with wonderfully laid-out gardens. The surroundings of the tank are fragrant with the flowers. Besides, fountains are adding a lot of beauty to the entire area.

6. Bharat Mata Mandir

One of the most unique places to visit is the Bharat Mata Mandir. It consists of eight stories, the temple is a major attraction for travelers in Haridwar. It is a multi-storied building and each of the floors has dedicated to different gods. People love to come here for darshan.

7. Lakshman Jhula

Lakshman Jhula is a bridge across the river Ganges, located 5 kilometers north-east of the city of Rishikesh. It has been one of the centers for tourist attraction since its inception for its amazing association of Hindu Mythology. The bridge was opened for public in the year 1929.

8. Rajaji National Park

Rajaji National Park is the national park and tiger reserve, near the foothills of the Himalayas. The park is spread over a large area and covers three districts of Uttarakhand. This is kinda a place for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The wildlife of the park is blessed with elephants, tigers, leopards, and deers as its best-known life forms.

One of the best shopping places in Haridwar is the Bara Bazaar where you will find a lot of foreign travelers. Indian travelers may find this shopping destination a bit costly. You must bargain hard to get the best price. It is located close to Har Ki Pauri. You can find anything — clothes, shoes, food, utensils, etc.

10. Patanjali Yogpeeth

Patanjali Yogpeeth, which was inaugurated in 2006 is located in Haridwar. It was started by Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna. The trust aims to increase the extension of yoga and Ayurveda. Patanjali Yogpeeth is about 20 km from Haridwar at Kankhal and about 15 km from Roorkee.
