Android Studio is the best way to develop Android apps. Period.

While using Android Studio is optional to work through this book, I highly, highly recommend it because it’s far and away the best choice.

All that being said, getting Android Studio set up, especially if you’re including an emulator, can be a long and sometimes annoying process.

During the first review of this book, every reviewer had the same piece of feedback: “Can you include how to get Android Studio set up in the first place?” If this is your first time with Android Studio, hopefully this appendix helps you skip the trouble those brave souls had and you’re able to start building apps sooner.

Already have Android Studio set up? Then why are you here? Go build Penny Drop in Chapter 1, Initialize the Penny Drop App, or the Android Baseball League app in Chapter 8, Initialize the Android Baseball League App!
