When our little ones show signs of illness especially when they are below 6 years of age, more often we tend to search on the web to understand and possibly find a remedy, in most cases we often see search results that make us more worried and find information that is not relevant to us. It also takes a huge amount of time to unclutter the information and come to a right conclusion.

Even finding home remedies is difficult, for example children with cough are advised to give honey. While the same remedy should not be given for kids below 1 year of age because kids below one year of age have a weak immune system that may cause Infant Botulism (which could cause muscle weakness and breathing difficulties) due to the bacteria present in honey. So the information has to be curated based on the child’s age and symptoms for it to be usable.

When to see a doctor for kids ?

When the little one is sick, one question that lingers in our mind is when do I take my little one to the doctor. More often we tend to visit the doctor even for minor illness that can be easily treated at home. While there are many published articles on the web on this topic, it is pretty difficult to find the case that is relevant to your little one at their particular age and symptoms that they are facing.

Our story

While raising two kids, these were exactly the same issues that I faced. More often I got overwhelmed and confused with the information, and it was also difficult for me to decide when the symptom was treatable at home and when it was not and therefore I ended up visiting the doctor’s clinic in most cases.

My brother who also has two kids faced similar issues and we both decided to build a simple symptom checker that could be helpful to all parents. We knew many doctors to whom we expressed our concerns, and most of them agreed and a few of them were kind enough to guide us and help us build it based on child’s age and symptoms.

More about the app

If the symptom is treatable the app provides a treatment plan with over the counter medications, home remedies, foods to take and avoid along with any lifestyle changes.

The app currently supports over the counter medications for US and India, we plan to add medications for several other countries in the future.

Below is a sample treatment plan for treating a 2 year old with Cold and Cough. The treatment plan includes medication, home remedies, preferred foods and any lifestyle changes that would aid in the recovery of the little one.

We would love to hear your feedback.
