As humans, communication is a major part of day to day life. For the most part communication through text or call via SMS, Whatsapp ,or Facebook is sufficient. But for certain times, there are no substitute for talking in real time with voice or video chat.

For huge tech companies like Facebook, Google and Microsoft who has got the resources to build and maintain high quality real-time voice and video call capabilities, it is easy. But for startups, it is not a simple job to package and transport the data packets. There are so many technical infrastructure and UI decisions that have to be made.

Now the Agora.io is focusing to power real-time communication for the next generation of innovative apps and businesses in a much easier and better way. Agora.io offers an API and SDK to allow developers to plug in HD voice and video calls for any application.

other than build it from the whole base, companies can pay for Agora’s communication service depending on volume and integrate it within minutes. Calls work for both one-to-one and multiple people. It can even handle a remarkable number of people in a single section.

Real Time Broadcasting

The real time broadcasting shines in scenarios like Host-in at the Client Side, Host-in across Channels, Screen Sharing, audio mixing, Inject an Online Media Stream etc…There are a good number of error codes to detect problems, a clear and smooth broadcasting of video and audio, recording options and having it as a Cocoapod library all makes this library easy to use and well suited for production usage.

On real time voice calling they mainly focus at the quality of the audio and provides a crystal clear audio experience.it provides features like One-to-One-Calling & Group Calling,3D Spatial Audio,Active Speaker Detection and Voice Effects.

OUR EXPERIENCE

Our team was developing an application which had a feature of real time audio and video calling facility, and it was the first time we placed our hands on the agora.io( https://www.agora.io/en/).

In the beginning we decided to use a CPaaS (Communications platform as a service) provider to speed-up development and also to have a robust production ready application. it was then one of our leading developer came up with the idea of using the agora.io .On having a basic research agora.io had a great review and feedback from other developers.

Not only by the reviews but also the agora.io had all our required features available like device compatibility ,broadcasting etc…

Brijith, our team leader did extensive research on broadcasting methods prior to beginning the work and was very impressed with the quality of Agora.io video and the strength of the technical support they offered to us.

On every case we had an issue, we were offered with great support from their side and literally answered any question we had.

Overall, Agora.io has a generous list of cross platform libraries for the Web and iOS platforms and worked without any issues. we would definitely recommend Agora.io both for prototype and production ready applications.it was a nice experience being a part of the agora.io community.

The chat works great and offers a basic but effective messaging model of string messages and user Id. To add an additional field in the message, such as location of the user, we concatenated the different fields of interest in a single string. We would like to see more functionalities here and additional integration of the library with the A/V communication API.
