Telemarketing is a type of marketing that employs telephones to obtain views and purchase products and services. There are two types: cold calling, where prospect purchase is sought without being solicited, and teleprospecting, where an uninterested party has already expressed some desire for information.

Cold-calling can produce potential profits in successful sales, but it requires more work than telecalling. With most survival enterprises also requiring continuous enrollment to maintain solvency, cold calling would eventually be destroyed entirely by attrition if not for its ability to produce new customers who otherwise would never have been found without such heavy effort on their parts — or with any effort at all in many cases!

It is usually used in for-profit business, non-profit business, surveying, market research and any other kind of organization.
