4. Tokyo Diaries- “How user’s interaction with products changed overall user experience ”

Do you still remember when many of us have been given a seed in our primary school and asked to submit a plant after defined period of time during science practical exercise? We wait to see how plant grows out of the seed, sometimes forget to put water, dig out seeds and what not do just to make sure our experiment would succeed. Isn’t it be more fun in learning when we introduce some fun elements with the study and solve most common errors of kids by introducing straw. Have a look at this picture -

Using product instructions are also very easy to use for a kid. It’s a very good idea to gift it as well. Talking about the usability and sustainability, we mostly prefer sticky notes for writing and sticking around the door, kitchen or wherever it is needed to share information with other person sharing common space. Three most common problems I have faced with the sticky notes are reusability, sustainability and accessibility. I like the idea of writing on board instead of using sticky notes for daily needs. Isn’t it good to use the most common shared space by all family members is for writing, sharing things. Look at the below image -

You can see magnetic pen stick to the freezer and attached eraser part on the top. Easy to write, erase and put on the door. It solved all three problems at once accessibility, sustainability and reusability.
Coming back to the usability and accessibility point for bicycle users during extreme winters. One can easily find young kids and babies all covered up, sitting quietly in the cabin space going to the school on bicycle in Tokyo. Similar concept taken from the ebike design.

In the above image separate space is added as per the kid’s age and his/her sitting requirements.
Did you also notice that in all the above process memory makes a predefined way to the user interactions. In this journey happy memories leads to the overall process of UX and determines the user satisfaction.
