JoSAA 2015 Seat Allotment Process

From this year i.e. 2015, the counselling for JEE Main and JEE Advanced will be conducted by JoSAA. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the combination of Joint Allocation Board (JAB) and Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). Counselling from JoSAA started from 1 July 2015 along with the filling up of choices. The seat allocation for Round 1 will be declared today i.e. 7 July 2015. The candidates can accept the allotted seat from 8 to 12 July 2015. Through JoSAA 2015 Counselling, candidates will be allotted admissions into the UG engineering courses offered by IITs, NITs, IIITs, other GFTIs and SFTIs. More details about the counselling of JoSAA 2015 are given below.

JoSAA 2015 Seat Allotment:

The schedule and the JoSAA 2015 Seat Allotment is already declared by JoSAA. The seat allotment will be based on the seat matrix provided by the participating institutions. There will be a total of three rounds. The candidates will be divided in the list according to their state quota, state category quota, all India quota and all India category quota.

Eligibility for JoSAA 2015:

The eligibility criteria for JoSAA 2015 counselling are as follows:

a. The candidates must have a valid rank in JEE Main 2015 and JEE Advanced 2015.
b. The candidates must score more or equal to the cutoff set by the board.
c. Admissions to IITs and ISMs are held on the basis of JEE Advanced 2015
d. Admissions to NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and SFTIs are held on the basis of JEE Main 2015.

The candidates must note that qualifying in the above-mentioned examinations does not guarantee a seat in any of the institutes. The candidates must meet the cut-off and eligibility standards. The normalised procedure (60:40) ratio for JEE Main Score and Class XII score) was used to determine the rank of the candidate.

JoSAA 2015 Dual Reporting

According to JoSAA 2015 business rule, a single opportunity is available for the registration and online choice filling. But for switching the allocated seat, the candidates will have to report twice, which is also known as Dual Reporting. In Dual Reporting, the candidates will have to report twice, to exchange the seat allocated in one institute with the seat allocated in another one. If the candidate fails to do so, he/she will end up losing the seat in both the institute.
