I bought my mother a Moto E, after her Galaxy S died. Good little phone, and I see TheVerge has rated the new Moto G as the best smartphone under $200 for mid 2015, far better than much more expensive phones. My wife has similar issues with a HTC One (M7) forever low battery, though my LG G2 will go a full day with relatively heavy use, I got 16 hours out of the 3000mAH battery once, with something like 6 hours of screen on time. Several hours of WiFi, etc. Good article.
