Why have I landed on Digital Marketing with Udacity

I am a professional photographer, graduated in social communications, specialized in publishing and advertising. Been working as a freelancer since it pays better than the average job related to my education in my area. Even though, I am not well paid. After living abroad (in Ireland) to enhance my photography skills, I noticed that in fact my country doesn’t pay professionals like me very well. So I decided to focus on moving away, seeking for skills that could give me a job in another country. Then I started looking for online courses, focused on skills most employers would look for worldwide. At first, I had decided moving to the IT world, since it seems to be the kind of professionals in most need. After starting coding courses, a udacity facebook post hooked me. It was about the Digital Marketing Nanodegree program.

Well, I am already familiar with marketing and my degree is related to it. So why not trying to take a course that would evolve my skills instead of starting a whole new thing? Then I decided to take the course, as I believe my diploma would me more valuable in the marketing world rather than the IT world. Even if I can’t find a job as a digital marketer, I would be able to enhance my photography profession by using the skills acquired in the course.

What have I noticed so far

I can say the nanodegree is very well structured. You have real world projects, helping to promote the course itself — which is a very intelligent and practical solution for both udacity and its students — the videos are very easy to understand even if you are not familiar with anything about marketing and you have a mentor to help you whenever you need. It really feels like it worthed enrolling for. I am learning a lot about facebook marketing, google adwords, instagram marketing and the core concepts of digital marketing and even remembering the core concepts of marketing itself.

There is always a new way to do marketing

Marketing will never stop evolving. There will always be a new way to make people buy. So you have to keep studying and learning if you really love it and really work with it. As I was discussing with former colleages, a huge part of what we learned during our graduation days changed a lot, in around 7 years. We have tons of new marketing jobs related to new technologies and digital marketing concepts. This is scary and the most exciting thing about working with marketing and communication. There’s always something new!

I believe quick and rich online courses are the best way to keep you on track and looks like Udacity’s Digital Marketing Nanodegree is surely a great option.
