I am reading this post (and responding) while taking a break from working.
I am still pregnant, 40 weeks and 2 days.
The “what’s your maternity policy?” question has come up often among friends/acquaintances/nosy random strangers once they find out that I work at a young startup.
It’s always such a tricky question to answer.
“Um, well, it’s very open and they are willing to be flexible and it’s been loosely defined”
This is usually met with skepticism and eye squinting. Wrong answer?
The truth is, startups feel different. They keep moving, changing, charging ahead. I don’t want to be out of the loop for that long. I want to be part of the movement, the change, the charging ahead.
I also want to bond, and nurse, and relish the early weeks and months with my new little human.
Therein lies my dilemma.
