How Optimizing Your LinkedIn Profile Will Help You Land a Job

When was the last time you looked or updated your LinkedIn profile? Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone knocking on your door to ask if you are interested in a job? Ever thought about letting employers discover or reach out to you? Recruiters are not the only people that search and recruit on social media. Studies show a trend in social media recruitment from company’s internal HR department.

With 433 million users, in over 200 countries and territories, LinkedIn is the world’s largest professional network. The thing about social media is that, if you have a profile, people are probably looking at it. When you are applying for jobs, you are probably being searched on the web.

If you haven’t been updating your LinkedIn profile, there are couple of quick fix to optimize your profile.

Get a professional photo taken and use it.

Get a someone to take a photo for you or go to a photography studio and spend the extra money for a professional photo taken. It is worth the price on a long run.

Be creative in describing yourself

Your summary section is probably what most viewers will be reading when checking out your profile. Try your best to highlight your skills. With that being said, you also want to keep it short, so choose your words wisely. Have a friend or a stranger read your summary to give you some feedbacks.

Connect with everyone you know.

The number of connections you have usually just show as 500+ once you exceed more than 500 connections. You should add all the connections you have to your profile. (to be honest, it just looks better on your profile)

Don’t believe me? Give it a try and see if there is an increase on the # of views you get :)
