What Does A Recruitment Consultant Actually Do?
The job of a recruitment consultant may seem pretty straightforward, however, there’s actually far more to it than you might imagine. In fact, recruiting talented and reliable staff is only the tip of the iceberg. Let’s take a closer look at some of the other duties a recruitment consultant does:
- Screening sometimes hundreds of resumes in a matter of days to source potentially ten suitable candidates
- Arranging interviews
- Administering all required paperwork for each and every candidate
- Scanning paperwork, tickets and conducting interviews
- Checking on and confirming availability with clients
- Contacting clients and securing labour requests
- Booking transport, flights and accommodation for confirmed clients
- Ensuring clients have all the required support and information to get to site
- Requesting timesheet and passing on to payroll
- Calling potential new clients to ensure enough work is there for clients who are registered with the company
- Arranging meetings to conform new business
Additionally, there are often some very difficult aspects of recruiting that need to be dealt with swiftly and professionally. These may include:
- Dealing with changes in requirements such as clients changing the number of required people These may sometimes involve having to inform clients that they are unfortunately no longer required, resulting in the company or consultant getting the blame
- Candidates dropping out of commitments
- Liaising with clients and apologising on their behalf
- Dealing with on-site incidents
- Chasing up time sheets
There is also the pressure of consistently meeting changing client requirements. Recruitment consultants are often the middle men for delivering bad news.
