1. Why I gave Justice Ademola N500,000

A counsel to President Muhammadu Buhari has absolved the president of any role in the money the lawyer gave to a judge accused of corruption.
A witness stated in court on Tuesday that the State Security Service, SSS, was told that Kola Awodein, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, gave Justice Adeniyi Ademola N500,000 in 2015.
2. Nigerian Army confirms soldier went missing after Lagos ambush

The Nigerian Army says a soldier widely reported to have been kidnapped in Lagos only got missing in action during an ambush.
3. Sanusi’s proposal to regulate marrying more than one wife

Mixed reactions from women in Borno trailed the call by the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, to ensure that men who cannot cater for their family do not marry more than one wife.
Some women said they wholeheartedly supported the move, while others thought the idea was out of place.
4. Osinbajo rejects four bills passed by National Assembly

Nigeria’s Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo vetoed four bills passed by the National Assembly and transmitted to the President for assent.
The bills are Dangerous Drug Amendment Bill 2016; National Lottery Bill 2016; Currency Conversion Freezing Order Amendment Bill 2016; and Agricultural Guaranteed Credit Scheme Bill 2016.
5. Nigerian military accuses Amnesty International of fabricating report of extrajudicial killings, torture

The Nigerian military accused human rights organisation, Amnesty International, of fabricating its latest report about extrajudicial killings and torture of 240 people in the country’s north-east and 177 pro-Biafran agitators.
6. Governor Shettima should succeed Buhari as Nigeria’s President

The Deputy Speaker of Borno House of Assembly, Danlami Kubo, said that his state governor, Kashim Shettima, should be the next man to rule Nigeria at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.
The lawmaker said moves were being made to see that the candidacy of Mr. Shettima is accepted when the time comes for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to get President Buhari’s successor.
Mr. Shettima said he was angered by the lawmaker’s comment and that it doesn’t represent his views in anyway.
7. Germans kidnapped in Kaduna

Two Germans were kidnapped in Kaduna on Wednesday, according to the police.
The Germans are said to be archaeologists engaged in an escalation work at Jajela, a village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
8. EFCC recovered 17 vehicles from ex-Customs boss

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it recovered 17 “exotic vehicles’’ in a warehouse belonging to a former Comptroller-General of Customs, Abdullahi Dikko Inde.
The recovery was sequel to an intelligence report the commission received that stolen money and properties suspected to be proceeds of crime were being warehoused at the former customs boss’ premises, according to EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren.
9. Court freezes Stella Oduah’s accounts in 21 banks

A Lagos Federal High Court restrained Stella Oduah and Sea Petroleum and Gas Company Ltd., from making any withdrawal from its account and those of three other companies domiciled with 21 banks.
The other companies include: Sea Shipping Agency Ltd, Rotary Engineering Services Ltd, and Tour Afrique Company Ltd.
10. Denmark to charge man with blasphemy over burning Koran

Danish prosecutors said they had opened a rare blasphemy case against a man who videotaped himself burning a copy of the Koran.
The 42-year-old in December 2015 posted a clip on Facebook showing him burning the Koran in his garden.
