I love this fake it till you make it idea. It reminds me of something I have learned in Sociology classes. 
Anticipate socialization, I think that’s how you call it in English. It is all about trying to behave a certain way, adopt a kind a trait, a behavior that is specific to the people you take as you reference group, the ones you to be the same with. This comes in form of dressing in a suit if you want to be a businessman, going to academic conferences if you think about being close to academic life. Or even doing your hair a certain way so you come closer to the role you want to play in the future.
