The Trouble With Twitter in Education
Mike Crowley

Good post, Mike, as ever. As an optimist, I’m glad to see you highlight the positive aspects for educators using Twitter. I think, however, it’s only fair to mention that some educators I respect are increasingly concerned about the use of Twitter to ‘call out’ other educators whose views don’t accord with theirs, and cut down some ‘tall poppies’ (the attacks on Ken Robinson are particularly vindictive). I confess that I’ve experienced this myself recently, though I prefer to see this in perspective: there are far more educators who use it to learn, rather than score points. But, as I said in OPEN, the use of social spaces for learning, is always at play, and we owe it to ourselves — AND our students — to be role models.

And in that sense, you certainly are.
